Dmytro Stelmashchuk

I work and create design masterpieces under the pseudonym Ditrix. I was born and grew up in Ukraine. There I learned the graphic craft, and also worked in this direction. Now I live and work in Germany of the city of Berlin.

Since my childhood I liked taking pictures. I also liked the compilation, retouching and restoration of damaged photos. Later with the advent of digital video I made short videos and short films. And most importantly post-processing and editing of video content, which also has not passed my attention. Many of my friends and peers liked my creativity and approach, which at the time gave me support and a resource for my creative ideas. At that point I realized that it was possible to do very unusual and truly masterpiece work. The only thing that was missing was my knowledge of graphics and video programs. In the early 2000s the Internet was not as developed as now with a lot of video lessons, various courses and training. At that time, I studied them myself from books and experience of other people I knew. But the interest to creativity has not left me. This is how my love to photography, artistic composition, retouching and compilation, video editing and desire to create and come up with new, unusual and interesting content was born.

Initial period

Later, I went to college and a period of my college life began. During those years I continued to self-study graphics and photo processing in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

The next stage in my career as a designer was working in the magazine “Gorozhanin”. Here I got new tasks, and most importantly new experience in design in Adobe InDesign.

Nowadays

After moving to Germany our collaboration did not stop and we continued to do what we loved. At the same time, I was already working in Berlin, in firms which were interested in my work.

Initial period

Later, I went to college and a period of my college life began. During those years I continued to self-study graphics and photo processing in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Illustrator. Also, I started first earnings in this area offering their services on the Internet (engaged in Freelance). Although the money was not great, but it did not stop me, and I continued to study the programs in my free time on the Internet. I was sure that in the near future it will bring me more income. And so, it happened in 2009, I got a job as a graphic designer in a photo studio “Photo-World”. I worked there for two years. During those two years I took part in many projects of the studio. I went to photo shoots, processed photos, made photo books, designed the design for photo books and other printed materials. While working there, I gained new experience and increased my skills, as well as earned my first serious money in this line of work. This capital was used to upgrade my digital equipment and further my studies.

Boom period

The next stage in my career as a designer was working in the magazine “Gorozhanin”. Here I got new tasks, and most importantly new experience in design in Adobe InDesign. In my responsibilities were to design each magazine, make up text and saturation of articles with beautiful and attractive photo. I learned quickly and gained new experience. During my work in the magazine, the magazine received a lot of positive feedback from readers and subscribers of the magazine. The magazine participated in nominations for the best informative and entertaining magazine in the region, which also was not without my participation.

After finishing my contract with the magazine, I continued working as a designer in the printing center “Polygraph”. It was a large printing center, which printed about 35% of the printed products of the region, where I lived. My job as a designer was to develop a corporate identity. I was approached by new firms, or firms with a name for the design of advertising or other printed materials. After receiving the job, I provided a few sketches of my designs to choose from clients. Which, of course, could not but please the client, as he could choose what he likes. While in this position, I designed, logos, letterheads, business cards, mugs, pens, flags and other branded items. I participated in many big advertising companies of big brands: Samsung, LG, Philips, Kyivstar, LifeCell. Working in this company, I gained even more experience in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW. Also, I gained great experience in working with color palettes for outputting products into print. Since in printing it is very important to get the right color of the printed product, you need to have experience and knowledge in this process.

Nowadays

After moving to Germany my collaboration did not stop and I continued to do what I loved. At the same time, I was already working in Berlin, in firms which were interested in my work and needed my services. I took part in a corporate style rebranding, which was successfully completed in time. I was also involved in the design of the company’s online store, object photography of the company’s products, as well as corporate identity development. After a while I began to draw the interface design for a new product of the company, which has also been successfully completed and implemented in products. I became increasingly attracted to interface design and interaction. From that point on I began studying UI/UX design on courses from Google.

To date I am finishing UI/UX design courses and have already had a number of developments in this area. As I see great potential in this field I continue to learn and prototype applications which in the end bring me valuable experience as a future UI/UX designer. Having a great experience in graphic design, web design, etc. – I will definitely be able to bring fresh and interesting design solutions to your projects.
